Nurturing Children’s Imagination with AI Agents

StoryDarpan is a learning platform focused on increasing the Imagination Quotient (IQ²) of children aged 8–18 through story-based learning. Working with children, parents and educators, the platform transforms traditional curriculum concepts into open-ended story problems, creative writing journeys, story-driven quizzes, and concept-linking exercises that build divergent thinking.

Delivering this experience involves breaking syllabi into granular concepts, identifying the cognitive skills being developed, generating multiple creative pathways and continuously iterating and refining outputs. This need for structured, multi-step reasoning made AI Agents a natural fit.

StoryDarpan is building an AI Curriculum-to-Imagination Engine, an agentic system that converts any syllabus into open-ended, creativity-building story challenges.

The Agent is built on a Python FastAPI backend using Google’s Agent Development Kit (ADK) and Gemini models via Vertex AI. The system operates in two stages:

1. A Subtopic Agent breaks down broad subjects into structured curriculum areas, using source material or its own subject knowledge. 

2. A Question Generation Pipeline composed of four specialized agents:

• Generator: drafts story-based challenges

• Evaluator: critiques them for engagement, logic, and age-appropriateness

• Refiner: improves narrative quality based on feedback

• Scorer: assigns creativity metrics and pedagogical metadata

To scale efficiently, the system uses asynchronous processing to generate multiple unique outputs in parallel, while maintaining quality through its self-correcting, agent-led workflow.

This Agent has become the core infrastructure for StoryDarpan. It has enabled the platform to move beyond being a content provider to positioning itself as an imagination-first learning system powered by AI Agents—with clear ownership, reasoning and pedagogical intent embedded in the system.

StoryDarpan proves that AI Agents are not add-ons, they are enablers of entirely new ways of building products. By placing agents at the heart of their platform, they are scaling imagination with the same rigor traditionally reserved for content and curriculum.
