When Doctors Become Builders: A Look at Prototyping Agentic Solutions at AIIMS
At intelligentagents, we believe the true power of AI is unlocked when it’s placed in the hands of practitioners—the people on the ground solving real-world problems. AI agents are the key to this transformation, making it possible for anyone with an idea to build powerful solutions without needing to be a programmer. Our mission is to be an enabler for this shift in India, helping people move beyond the hype and build things that matter.
Recently, this belief was put into practice at a workshop held at AIIMS, New Delhi.

The Spark that Led to the Workshop
It all began with a small workshop we hosted in Delhi this past April. We noticed that the doctors in attendance were particularly engaged. They had countless ideas for improving patient care and streamlining research but often lacked the accessible tools to implement them. The excitement from that session, particularly from attendees from AIIMS and the National Cancer Institute (NCI), led the team at AIIMS to ask a simple but powerful question: could we bring this experience to all their doctors?

Bringing AI to the Forefront: The AIIMS Workshop
In the third week of July, the Centre for Dental Education and Research (CDER) at AIIMS organized a workshop on AI agents, and we were honored to be invited to speak and lead the hands-on sessions.
The interest from the medical community was clear. The room was buzzing with over 60 students from AIIMS and around 75 doctors attending in person. Another 25 clinicians joined the session remotely from cities like Ranchi and Pondicherry, showing a nationwide curiosity.
The focus was on practical application. Using open-source tools like n8n, participants explored how to:
Build intelligent workflows from scratch
Integrate memory and context for complex tasks.
Connect with essential tools like Google Sheets and email.
Participants got hands-on experience building an agent to manage a patient list from a spreadsheet, prioritize cases based on custom criteria, and draft follow-up emails. But the day wasn't just about the technical 'how-to.' The session sparked lively and crucial discussions around data privacy, the ethics of using AI in patient care, and the infrastructure needed to support these tools responsibly. It was a holistic conversation, balancing technological enthusiasm with clinical diligence.

What This Means for the Future
An event of this scale, initiated by a leading institution like AIIMS, has a ripple effect. Empowering clinicians to become builders is the first step toward a future where healthcare solutions are developed by the very people who will use them.
Our goal is to continue being an enabler in this ecosystem. Just as we've seen with our open-source education initiative, Shiksha Sathi, giving practitioners direct access to tools is the most effective way to drive meaningful innovation.
The future of AI in India won't be defined by a few large companies, but by the thousands of doctors, teachers, and builders solving everyday problems with newfound capabilities. This is just the beginning.
A huge thank you to every doctor and student who attended with such enthusiasm. And, of course, a massive shout-out to the CDER team at AIIMS—especially Dr. Deepika and Dr. Varun—for organizing this incredible event and for inviting us to be a part of it.
